Indiana Jones' hat sold for $630,000

The hat worn by famous actor Harrison Ford in the second film of the Indiana Jones series was sold for $630,000 at an auction organized by the UK-based Propstore Auction House.

In a statement from the auction house, it was said, "As iconic as the character himself, the hat worn by Indiana Jones is the defining element of his unforgettable costume. This fedora was custom-made for the second film of the Indiana Jones series and matches film frames, production photos, and behind-the-scenes footage of Ford using it in the village scenes shot in Sri Lanka, the mine cart chase filmed at Elstree Studios, and the river sequence filmed in the US. Coming from Ferrandini's personal collection, this hat is being offered to collectors for the first time. Along with the fedora, the lot includes previously unpublished photos of master stuntman Ferrandini in the Indiana Jones costume and a letter of authenticity signed by Dean Ferrandini's wife, Keefe Ferrandini."

At the auction, a military helmet used in the 1983 Star Wars film Return of the Jedi was also sold for $315,000, and the wand used by lead actor Daniel Radcliffe in the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was sold for $53,550.
