Instruction from India's Interior Minister: 'Prepare to retaliate'

According to a report in the Indian Express, as tensions between the two countries continue following India's missile strikes on Pakistani territory and the Pakistan-controlled Azad Kashmir region, Shah held a video conference with administrators of several states and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Minister Shah stated that Indian Prime Minister Modi had promised an appropriate response to the perpetrators and supporters of the terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region on April 22, which left 26 people dead.

Instructing administrators of states bordering Pakistan and Nepal to ensure the smooth supply of essential services and goods, Shah said, "All states must make their preparations according to the guidelines issued for drills. Arrangements must be made for the smooth operation of essential services such as hospitals and fire departments, and the uninterrupted supply of essential goods must be ensured."

Emphasizing the need to increase coordination between local governments, the military, and paramilitary forces, Shah asked state administrators to keep disaster response and security forces on high alert.

Stating that caution must be exercised against anti-national propaganda spread on social media and other platforms, Shah noted that state administrations and central agencies must act swiftly in cooperation against such content.

On the other hand, Shah emphasized the importance of increasing security in sensitive areas and maintaining uninterrupted communication channels.

On May 6, India launched missile strikes on Pakistani territory and the Pakistan-controlled Azad Kashmir region, citing retaliation for the terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region on April 22 that killed 26 people.

While the Indian army reported that it had hit 9 targets it described as 'terrorist infrastructure,' the Pakistani administration announced that 6 civilian locations were targeted in the attacks and 26 people lost their lives.

The Pakistani army claimed to have shot down 5 fighter jets during the Indian side's attack, while the New Delhi administration did not confirm this.
