International Court of Justice announces: Israel is an occupying power in Gaza
The International Court of Justice has stated that Israel is an occupying power in Gaza.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ), located in The Hague, Netherlands, is delivering its advisory opinion on the legal consequences of Israel's policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In its initial statement, the ICJ declared, "The occupied Palestinian territory is not a series of fragmented separate areas, but a single territorial unit."
The court stated that Israel is an occupying power in Gaza.
The opinion also noted that the Hague Regulations have become part of customary international law and are therefore binding on Israel.
The ICJ stated that the court will examine the legal implications of Israel's illegal presence in the occupied territories.
