Investigation continues into document leaks in Israel

The investigation conducted by the internal security agency Shin Bet, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and the police continues following the leak of classified intelligence from the Prime Minister's Office in Israel.

Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court Judge Menachem Mizrahi announced that the gag order imposed on the investigation has been partially lifted, stating that they have entered the "open phase" of the probe.

Noting that authorities suspect the leak has harmed Israel's ability to achieve its war objectives, Mizrahi stated, "Several suspects have been detained for questioning, and the investigation is ongoing."

"NETANYAHU IS RESPONSIBLE"

Yair Lapid, leader of the opposition Yesh Atid Party, stated on his social media account, "Netanyahu is trying, as always, to distance himself from the event and shift the responsibility to others, but the facts show the exact opposite. He is personally responsible for every piece of paper, word, or information that leaves his office."

Noting that there are formidable "enemies" outside, Lapid added, "But the danger from within and from the most sensitive decision-making centers shakes the foundations of Israeli citizens' trust in the conduct of the war and the handling of the most sensitive security issues."

"THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE IS THE PRIME MINISTER"

Benny Gantz, leader of Israel's National Unity Party, stated, "Without going into the details of the case currently under investigation regarding activities in the Prime Minister's Office, it is important to emphasize one thing: The person responsible for what happens in his office is the Prime Minister. For better or for worse."

Documents spread via social media

Classified US intelligence documents evaluating Israel's attack plans against Iran were spread via social media on October 18. In a report last week citing an unnamed Israeli official, the UK-based newspaper The Times claimed that the leaking of Israeli documents necessitated changes to certain strategies, which in turn delayed the retaliatory strike against Iran.
