It has been alleged that a subpoena has been issued in the investigation opened against New York Mayor Eric Adams regarding his relations with Turkey.

According to a report by Can Kamiloğlu from VOA Turkish, The New York Times claimed that the indictment prepared by the prosecution against Adams and his team has been accepted by the grand jury and that subpoenas have been served to individuals relevant to the investigation to obtain their testimony.

SUBPOENAS ISSUED TO MAYOR AND CAMPAIGN STAFF

The New York Times reported that subpoenas have been issued to the mayor and his campaign staff as part of an investigation into allegations that New York Mayor Eric Adams collected illegal donations from Turkey and certain Turkish-owned companies in the U.S. during his 2021 election campaign.

The New York press has long reported on Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) allegations regarding improper donations against Mayor Adams and his 2021 campaign staff, but no official court or case records had been published until now.

It had been alleged that the FBI conducted searches at the homes of Rana Abbasova, New York Mayor Adams' international affairs advisor, Brianna Suggs, his campaign manager, and Cenk Öcal, the former New York manager of Turkish Airlines.

The New York Times noted that while the full scope of the investigation remains unclear, they anticipate it is examining whether there was cooperation with the Turkish government to illegally receive donations from foreign countries for Adams and his 2021 election campaign, and whether pressure was exerted on the Fire Department to approve the skyscraper construction housing Turkey's new consulate in Manhattan despite safety concerns.

Speaking on a radio program on Friday morning, New York Mayor Eric Adams said, "We have been extremely transparent in showing that there is nothing wrong with the documents, text messages, or whatever else they want to see, and we have stated that we will hand over everything requested."
