iPhone returns 'racist' when 'Trump' is said: 'We are aware of an issue'
Apple has noted that it will fix a dictation error that caused the word 'racist' to be perceived as 'Trump' on iPhones. The company stated that the issue stemmed from phonetic similarity.
It was discovered that when searching for the word 'racist' using the voice search feature on iPhones, the result 'Trump' appeared. Apple announced that it would fix a bug in the automatic dictation feature used on iPhones.
An Apple spokesperson stated, 'We are aware of an issue in the speech recognition model that supports dictation and we are releasing a fix.' The company indicated that the error occurred due to 'phonetic overlap.' This situation can lead to temporary misperceptions, especially in words containing the 'r' sound.
Apple explained that, due to the operating principle of the dictation feature, it can display phonetically similar words before fully determining the word the user has spoken. It was noted that a temporary confusion could occur between words like 'racist' and 'Trump' during this process.
The company emphasized that such errors rarely occur and that they are constantly working to improve the user experience.
This error was linked by some conservative commentators in the US to allegations that major technology companies have political biases. While the neutrality of Apple's artificial intelligence systems was questioned, the company's commitment to quickly fixing this error drew attention.

500 BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT DECISION
One day before this error came to light, Apple announced that it would invest 500 billion dollars in the US. This investment includes the construction of a giant factory for artificial intelligence servers in Texas and the creation of 20 thousand research and development jobs nationwide.
The US technology giant made similar investment commitments during Trump's first term as well. In 2018, the company announced that it would make investments that would contribute 350 billion dollars to the US economy over five years. During that process, it managed to obtain some exemptions from tariffs imposed on China.
This statement from the company came after a meeting between CEO Tim Cook and Trump. Apple decided to increase its investments in the US, taking into account the risk of a 10 percent tariff that could be applied to its products manufactured in China.

DEBATE BETWEEN TRUMP AND APPLE
Following Trump's election, executive orders were signed in the federal government canceling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) measures. This caused many companies in the technology sector to review their similar programs.
Companies like Google, Amazon, and Meta tended to withdraw their DEI plans. However, Apple rejected a proposal from its shareholders to terminate DEI programs.
This error in Apple's artificial intelligence systems also led to criticism regarding the company's technological capabilities. Apple reported that it continues its efforts to maintain user trust and prevent similar errors from recurring. The company aims to make continuous improvements so that its artificial intelligence systems are more accurate and neutral.
