Iran announces postponement of talks in Switzerland: To a later date
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made a statement regarding the Iran-US negotiations.
Iran has announced that the Iran-US negotiations, which were planned to be held on June 19 in the town of Bürgenstock in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden, have been postponed to "a later date."
Stating that necessary discussions are held through mediators when needed, Baghaei noted that information will be provided when the necessary conditions for the negotiations are met, and that the talks in Switzerland have been postponed to "a later date."
Emphasizing that for the negotiations to begin, articles 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 of the memorandum of understanding must be implemented and that this implementation must continue, Baghaei stated that there is no urgency for the meetings planned in Switzerland due to the prior signing of the memorandum.
"COMMERCIAL SHIP TRANSITS THROUGH THE STRAIT CONTINUE"
Recalling that there have been claims in some media outlets that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again, Baghaei said that these claims do not reflect the truth and that commercial ship transits through the strait continue with the security measures provided by Iran.
Baghaei also stated that reports claiming Iran has invited the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect Iran's nuclear facilities are not true, but that inspections of plants that have been inspected so far, such as the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, will continue, and that his country will maintain its nuclear program during the 60-day negotiation period.
