Iran decides to relocate its capital
According to Iranian Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani, Iran has decided to relocate its capital. It has been learned that the new capital will be located in a region in the south.
Iran has decided to move its capital from Tehran to a region located in the south of the country.
Iranian Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that the reason for the decision is the rapid population growth in Tehran and the inadequacy of infrastructure services due to environmental problems.
While officials emphasize that this change will provide strategic and economic benefits, some have also expressed that moving the capital from Tehran will create problems regarding financial demands.
Government Spokesperson Mohajerani said, "The new capital will definitely be in the south, in the Makran region, and this matter is currently being worked on."
The spokesperson highlighted the increasing ecological pressures on Tehran, including water scarcity, and announced that two councils have been established to examine the feasibility of the move and to develop a sea-based economy in the Makran region.
