Iran denies Trump's new negotiation claim: No talks with the US
Tehran has rejected Trump's claim that new US-Iran negotiations will begin, stating that it is in contact with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied US President Donald Trump's statement that new US-Iran negotiations would begin. Tehran announced that no negotiations are currently being held with Washington.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump had claimed that Iran and some Middle Eastern countries had requested time to finalize a comprehensive agreement. The US President argued that the agreement in question would include the "immediate, complete, and total" reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and "the end of Iran's nuclear threat."
Trump also claimed that he had halted a large-scale attack to give diplomacy another chance. The Iranian side, however, did not confirm these statements.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said that his country is not in talks with the US; he stated that they are in contact with Oman regarding the establishment of a temporary safe corridor for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
''THE SITUATION WILL NOT CHANGE AS LONG AS US ATTACKS CONTINUE''
Stating that a possible agreement with Oman would not be sufficient on its own to reopen the strait, Baghaei said, "The situation will not change as long as US aggression continues."
While the rising tension in the region has recently spread beyond the Persian Gulf, Washington continues to exert pressure for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international maritime traffic. Tehran, for its part, is sending the message that the current situation will not change until the military tension ends.
