Iran issues sharp response to Israel's threats: 'We will respond immediately and strongly'

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to threat statements from Israel with harsh language on his social media account. Araghchi stated that any threat directed at the Iranian people or the country's leadership would be met with an "immediate and strong" response.

The statement came following remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz regarding Khamenei. After Katz said that Khamenei was "marked for death," Araghchi argued that the administration of US President Donald Trump had committed to keeping Israel under control.

In his post, Araghchi used the following expressions regarding Washington and Tel Aviv: "The US President promised to silence his pets in Tel Aviv. If they do not listen to their masters, Iran will teach them a lesson."

The statements, which have increased tensions, coincide with a period in which technical talks are ongoing between the US and Iran in Doha, the capital of Qatar. It was reported that topics such as the regulation of ship passages through the Strait of Hormuz and securing a permanent ceasefire are being discussed in the talks.

It is stated that the contacts are being conducted at a technical level and that no direct face-to-face meetings are planned between high-level US and Iranian officials. The process in Doha is considered important for keeping diplomatic channels open following the rising tension in the region in recent weeks.

While safe maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz stands out as one of the critical topics in terms of energy markets and Gulf security, the Tehran administration is signaling that it keeps military and political response options on the table against new threats that may come from Israel.
