Iran: List of conditions being prepared to reopen the Strait of Hormuz

As diplomatic efforts intensify to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic following the clashes between the US and Iran, a notable statement regarding the process has come from Iran.

Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Mohsen Rezaee, gave an interview to Al-Manar TV, which is affiliated with Hezbollah in Lebanon, following his meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Stating that mediators had requested Iran's conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaee said they are preparing a list of conditions upon this request.

Conveying that Iran's conditions include an end to the war in the region, Rezaee stated that Iran has reached an agreement with Oman on a transit corridor, and that part of the corridor will be located in Omani waters while another part will be in Iranian waters.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran noted that if the US meets Tehran's conditions, ships will pass through a designated central channel in the strait.
