Iran responds to claims of negotiations with the US: No meeting planned in Doha
Tehran has announced that there is no schedule for any negotiations with the US in the coming days, stating that the delegation traveling to Doha will only be monitoring implementation.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that no negotiation meetings at any level are planned with the US in the coming days. Baghaei emphasized that any potential visits by US representatives to the Qatari capital, Doha, are not connected to the Iranian delegation's schedule.
While uncertainty persists regarding contacts between Iran and the US, the statement indicated that Tehran's current priority is to ensure the full implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding. Baghaei expressed that Iran continues to pursue its demands within the scope of this arrangement.
According to Baghaei, the US has issued the necessary licenses in accordance with Article 10 of the Memorandum of Understanding, which covers oil sales. The Iranian side is monitoring whether these licenses are being effectively implemented on the ground.
It was also announced that technical work is ongoing for Article 11, which provides for the release of Iran's frozen assets abroad. In this context, a delegation of Iranian experts is expected to travel to Doha toward the end of the week. Baghaei said the delegation's purpose is not to hold talks with the US, but to oversee the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding.
Stating that Iran and the US have not yet moved to final agreement negotiations, Baghaei noted that for this stage to be reached, Articles 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 of the Memorandum of Understanding must begin to be implemented and executed without interruption.
The Iranian Embassy in Doha also denied remarks by US President Donald Trump suggesting that the Iranian side wanted to talk and that the meeting would take place in Doha. In its statement, the embassy noted that no preparations have begun for a meeting between the two countries in Doha, adding, "To date, no official information regarding this matter has been conveyed to us."
