Iran responds to Trump's negotiation claim: 'Repeated lies do not even affect the markets'

Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, reacted to US President Donald Trump's statement that Iran is "desperately seeking to negotiate" with the US.

In a post on his X account, Ghashghavi stated that Trump's words do not reflect the truth. The Iranian spokesperson described Trump's statements as "repeated lies."

''It seems that Trump needs to look for better ways to escape the quagmire he has fallen into. Repeated lies no longer even provide a short-term relief in the markets.''

US President Trump, in a statement made a day earlier, had argued that Iran wanted to negotiate with Washington. Trump had used the expressions, "They are desperately seeking to negotiate with us. But we have no intention of meeting with them until they are ready for a meaningful negotiation."

Ghashghavi's statement was made at a time when the debate over negotiations between Washington and Tehran has returned to the agenda.
