Iran: Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until the US accepts Iran's conditions

Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Mohsen Rezaee, made a statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking to the Iranian press following his meeting with the Chinese Ambassador, Rezaee stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until the US accepts Iran's conditions.

Stating that the US is the "source of insecurity" in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman, Rezaee noted that the US has launched an "illegal war" that puts the entire region in danger.

Rezaee said that the US must end the war, release Iran's blocked assets, and end conflicts in the region, including in Lebanon and Gaza.

Rezaee also stated that any agreement between Iran and Oman to establish a route through the Strait of Hormuz would be kept "separate" from the broader issue regarding the closure of the strait.

Touching upon the strategic agreement between Iran and China, Rezaee noted that both countries are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, stating that this holds "great potential" for future relations. Rezaee announced that they welcomed China's decision not to support an "anti-Iranian and illegal" draft resolution submitted to the United Nations Security Council during the month of Ramadan.
