Iran strikes: Explosions at ammunition depots in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah

The conflict between the US and Iran continues to show its effects in other countries in the region. Large-scale explosions occurred at ammunition depots and military bases near Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq.

Reports in the Iranian press claimed that fires broke out in weapons depots belonging to "separatist groups" in the KRG cities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.

Iraqi sources reported that 5 explosions took place in the mentioned areas, stating that one of the facilities located in the village of Taşlıca near Sulaymaniyah was targeted in the attacks and that an explosion occurred at the facility. It was noted that the equipment and ammunition there were damaged.

While no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, local sources accuse Iran of carrying out drone (UAV) and missile attacks on the facilities in question.

Footage shared on social media showed flames rising from the scenes and smoke covering the sky.
