Iran: We have shot down another US drone
Iran has reported that it has shot down another US MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) east of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a report by Iran's Fars News Agency, it was stated, "A few minutes ago, an MQ-9 drone was shot down after being targeted by an advanced air defense system belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps."
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps had also reported yesterday morning that a US MQ-9 was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz.
The Washington Post newspaper, in a report published on August 13, stated that the US had lost at least 45 of its MQ-9 Reaper drones, which it uses extensively during tensions with Iran, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
The report, citing US officials, noted that this amount corresponds to approximately 25 percent of the MQ-9 Reaper fleet.
