Following the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, a tense wait continues in the region as Iran is expected to launch an attack on Israel.
Esmail Qaani, Commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, sent a letter to Yahya Sinwar, the new leader of Hamas who succeeded Haniyeh, regarding the expected attack.
In his letter, Qaani stated that Haniyeh's killing in Iran was a painful and difficult event, adding, "We are preparing to take his (Haniyeh's) revenge. This is our duty."
In the letter, where Qaani emphasized that the planned attack would be harsher than the retaliation carried out on April 13, he did not provide details on how the attack would be conducted.
Qaani stated, "Tehran will be with you on the path of resistance and will realize the sacred promise of cleansing Jerusalem."
