Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has departed for Muscat, the capital of Oman, leading a diplomatic delegation for nuclear negotiations with the US. In a statement on his social media account, Baghaei noted that the purpose of these contacts is to "reach a fair, mutually acceptable, and honorable agreement on the nuclear issue."
Recalling past negative experiences, Baghaei stated, "The failure to fulfill previous commitments, the military attack in June, and the foreign interventions in January of last year are before our eyes. Therefore, we always consider ourselves obligated to demand the rights of the Iranian nation. However, at the same time, we also have a responsibility not to miss any opportunity to utilize diplomacy in order to secure the interests of the Iranian nation and to maintain peace and stability in the region."
Thanking the neighboring and regional countries that have taken on a role with a sense of responsibility and sensitivity to shape the process, Baghaei said, "We hope that the US side will also participate in this process with a sense of responsibility, realism, and seriousness."
