An official statement has come from Iran regarding the alleged possible negotiations to be held with the US in Pakistan.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced in a message published on social media that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his accompanying delegation have arrived in Islamabad, the capital of the country, to meet with high-level Pakistani officials.
Providing information regarding the purpose of the visit, Baghaei stated, "Foreign Minister Araghchi will meet with high-level Pakistani officials within the framework of Pakistan's ongoing mediation and good-faith efforts to end the aggressive war imposed by the US and to restore peace in our region.
No meeting between Iran and the US has been planned. During the contacts, Iran's observations will be conveyed to Pakistan," he said.
Iranian press had denied claims of negotiations with the US
The Iranian press had reported earlier in the day that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had arrived in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It was claimed that the allegations that Araghchi would meet with US officials there were "untrue" and intended to mislead the public.
The report stated, "There is currently no negotiation with the US on the agenda.
Araghchi will not hold any meetings with US officials in Islamabad. Within the scope of the visit in question, Araghchi is expected to discuss Iran's assessments regarding the end of the war with the Pakistani side."
