According to a report by the Tasnim News Agency citing military sources, the Iranian army fired a missile to intercept the aforementioned UAV, which was detected near the city of Bushehr in the south of the country.
Masoud Tangestani, the governor of Iran's Jam city, stated that the explosion sounds heard in the region earlier were linked to this incident.
Tangestani said, "The incident that occurred tonight was due to the destruction of an enemy aircraft. The situation in the city is currently normal."
In recent developments in the region, it had been claimed that explosion sounds were heard in the provinces of Hormozgan and Bushehr.
Another report had alleged that the Iranian Armed Forces had launched a missile attack against targets identified in the south of the country.
Various sources had suggested that the missiles were warning shots directed at ships accused of violating Iran's rules in the Strait of Hormuz.
