Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf: Lebanon is an inseparable part of a comprehensive ceasefire

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf met with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, who arrived in the capital Tehran for official talks. The meeting addressed the development of political, economic, and security cooperation between the two countries, as well as regional developments. During the meeting, Ghalibaf said, "Developing multifaceted relations with neighbors has been and will continue to be Iran's permanent and definitive policy. This issue holds special importance due to the closeness of the two peoples with the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan."

Emphasis on comprehensive peace and security

Stating that economic and political relations and cooperation in the field of security should gain more importance under current conditions, Ghalibaf said, "The Tehran administration aims to ensure comprehensive peace for Iran and the entire region. We hope that the parties who started the war and are now making efforts to stop it will effectively end their behaviors that damaged trust in the past. Iran is determined to ensure full peace and security in the region, but the other side constantly fails to fulfill its commitments, preventing this process from reaching a conclusion."

Stating that Iran supports the establishment of a comprehensive ceasefire, Ghalibaf said, "Ensuring a comprehensive ceasefire in all conflict zones is one of the articles of the initial ceasefire agreement reached between Iran and the US with Pakistan's mediation. Lebanon is an inseparable part of a comprehensive ceasefire and plays an important role in moving toward lasting peace in the region."

Emphasis on border security and ceasefire from Pakistan

Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Munir stated that the passing of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had a wide impact in Pakistan, noting that protests and memorial programs were held in many cities. Emphasizing that they attach great importance to maintaining security on the Iran-Pakistan borders, Munir stated that he had given instructions from the very first day to ensure that no security problems occur along the border line.

Munir also added, "We understand the importance of the ceasefire in Lebanon and are following this process closely. We are continuing our efforts and diplomatic contacts seriously, and I hope we can host you in Islamabad again soon."
