Iranian President Pezeshkian meets with Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian continues his contacts in Pakistan. Pezeshkian met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister's House in the capital, Islamabad, where he arrived as part of an official visit. Sharif welcomed Pezeshkian with an official ceremony.

Sharif stated that Pezeshkian's arrival in Pakistan was a "source of great happiness and satisfaction." Sharif also asked Pezeshkian to convey his greetings to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, speaking of him with praise.

Sharif offered his condolences for the Iranian civilians who lost their lives during the war. Stating that they can look toward a brighter future today thanks to Pezeshkian's "calm, visionary, and sensible leadership," Sharif thanked the Iranian administration for its trust in Pakistan's honest and sincere mediation efforts.

Emphasizing that Pakistan will never leave Iran alone, Sharif stated that Pakistan will continue to maintain its mediation role until lasting peace is achieved in the region, adding that peace must be established "on the basis of honor and dignity."

"It is out of the question for Iran not to have missiles while other countries do"

Addressing Iran's missile program, Sharif said, "It is out of the question for Iran not to have missiles while other countries do." Stating that the issue is not on the agenda and that no discussions have been held in this direction, Sharif emphasized that Iran's missile program has never been a part of the negotiations.

Touching upon the role of Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir in the mediation efforts, Sharif stated that he made an "extraordinary contribution" to the signing of the agreement. Noting that Munir worked day and night to end the war, Sharif said, "He worked tirelessly with the goal of doing everything humanly possible to stop this war at any cost."

Before his meeting with Sharif, Pezeshkian met with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir. During the meeting, views were exchanged on regional developments and peace initiatives. Munir reiterated Pakistan's unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the region.
