Striking statement from Iraqi PM Sudani: 'Erdoğan’s visit to Baghdad will not be a temporary one'

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani continues his official contacts in Washington D.C., the capital of the USA, where he arrived on April 13.

As part of his contacts, Sudani spoke at the Atlantic Council. Sudani, who was received by US President Joe Biden in the Oval Office on Monday, said in his speech at the Atlantic Council, “President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Baghdad will not be a temporary one. For the first time, we see a genuine desire between Iraq and Turkey to move toward resolving issues rather than postponing them.”

"REVIEWING MEASURES AFFECTING IRAQI BANKS..."

Stating that Iraq is experiencing an economic revival, Sudani said, “We held many important meetings during our US visit. Our discussions took place in a very positive atmosphere. In our meeting with the US Department of the Treasury, we emphasized the necessity of reviewing the measures affecting some Iraqi banks.”

"WE MUST URGENTLY STOP THIS WAR"

Touching upon the events in Gaza, Sudani stated that the attacks on Gaza pose a major threat to the region and said, “We must urgently stop this war, prevent bloodshed, and establish a Palestinian state approved by international law.”
