Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani: We will not allow Iraqi territory to be used against Iran

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to a statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister's Press Office, Sudani addressed the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran during the call, stating that Iraq is against conflicts targeting Iran. Calling for dialogue for regional security, Sudani said that his country would not allow its territory to be used to attack Iran, emphasizing that they condemn military activities targeting Iran and are against any kind of war that threatens the security of the peoples of the region.

Expressing his sensitivity regarding Iraq's sovereignty, Sudani said, "The Iraqi government cares about the security and sovereignty of Iran. We will never allow any party or individual to use our territory to launch attacks against Iran."

Stating that they are ready to make every effort to end the war, the Iraqi Prime Minister said they believe that a solution can be reached through peaceful means, not by using force. Stating that the recent increase in attacks on Iraqi territory is a clear violation of the country's sovereignty, Sudani noted that this situation undermines Iraq's diplomatic efforts to stop the war.

Pezeshkian, for his part, stated that he appreciated Iraq's stance of rejecting the use of force in resolving disputes and thanked the Baghdad government for its efforts to maintain regional stability.
