Irish Parliament recognizes that Israel is committing genocide!
The Irish Parliament has passed a motion stating that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Despite the motion being non-binding, Ireland will play a role in the genocide case to be brought against Israel.
In a session held in the Dáil, the lower house of the Irish Parliament, a non-binding motion stating that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza was passed.
During the session in the Dáil, a motion that defines Israel's actions in Gaza as genocide and carries no legal binding was adopted. With this motion, while Ireland officially expresses its concerns regarding the events in Gaza, it does not create a legal obligation.

Speaking at the session, Irish Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Micheál Martin stated that the situation in Gaza is deteriorating and pointed out that the death toll has exceeded 43 thousand. Martin expressed that the operations conducted by Israel in Gaza have "crossed moral boundaries" and have led to widespread destruction that collectively punishes the entire population.
Having previously recognized Palestine as a state, Ireland is reinforcing its support for Palestine at the international level with this decision. Martin also announced that Ireland is considering joining the case brought by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and that a decision will be announced by the end of the year.
