Is the US to blame for Raisi's death?

White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby held a press briefing via teleconference. Kirby also addressed the agenda regarding Iran. 

Kirby stated that they were saddened by the death of Iranian President Raisi in a helicopter crash and extended their condolences to the Iranian people.

HE TOUCHED UPON RAISI'S SUPPORT FOR HAMAS

However, Kirby argued that Iran's support for elements in the region has caused serious harm, that Iran provided support for the October 7 Hamas attacks, and that therefore, Raisi had blood on his hands.

Kirby claimed that the statements made by former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who argued that one of those responsible for the crash of Raisi's helicopter was the US, which imposes sanctions on the country's civil aviation elements, were "baseless."

"THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE THEMSELVES"

Kirby said, "The claim that US sanctions are responsible (for this incident) is completely baseless. The cause of the crash is not yet clear, at least not clear to us. They are responsible for the reliability and safety of their own equipment, including civil aviation. Therefore, (the claims) are completely baseless."

The US advisor stated that Iran is trying to find a way to hold the US responsible in this incident as well, and that this is not a surprise.

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif had argued that one of the "primary culprits" in the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was the US, which imposes unilateral sanctions affecting the country's civil aviation sector.
