Is the Vatican the new address for peace? Russia-Ukraine talks on the agenda

According to the Wall Street Journal, a new round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations could be held at the Vatican.

Sources speaking to the newspaper reported that US President Donald Trump told European leaders last Sunday that he could send Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Keith Kellogg to these talks.

The report stated, “The Vatican talks are expected to begin in mid-June.”

Previously, Pope Leo XIV had confirmed during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni that they were ready to host talks between Russia and Ukraine. Evaluating the Vatican's proposal, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had stated that no decision had yet been made regarding the location of the talks to be held between Russia and Ukraine.
