Israel backs out of ceasefire considered for hostage exchange

According to a report by the established British newspaper The Guardian, Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a five-day ceasefire deal in exchange for the release of some hostages.

Writing that the ceasefire proposal for a hostage exchange was initiated after Israel launched its ground offensive on October 27, the newspaper reported that Netanyahu continues to maintain a hardline stance regarding proposals that involve ceasefires of varying durations in exchange for a changing number of hostages.

In its report, The Guardian stated that according to information received from sources involved in the negotiations, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office was asked to comment on the hostage negotiations but had not provided a response as of Thursday evening.

According to three different sources in the report, the original deal on the table included the release of children, women, the elderly, and the sick in exchange for a five-day ceasefire.
