Israel has killed 208 journalists in its attacks on Gaza: 'They are specifically targeting them'

The number of journalists who have lost their lives in Israel's operations in the Gaza Strip has reached 208. The Gaza Government Media Office most recently announced that Palestinian journalist Husam Shabat lost his life in Israeli attacks. The statement reported that the number of media workers who have died since October 7, 2023, has risen to 208. Reporters Without Borders condemned the targeting of media personnel working in the region by the IDF, alleging that the attacks were deliberate.

The Gaza administration called on international media organizations to condemn Israel's attacks on journalists. According to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, 61 people have lost their lives and 134 people have been injured in the last 24 hours. Of those who died, 57 were in new attacks, while 4 were among those recovered from under the rubble. The total death toll since October 7 has reached 50,082, and the number of injured has reached 113,408. Officials state that there are thousands of bodies under the rubble.

RSF condemned Israel's attacks and called on the international community to react to the ongoing massacre. In its statement, RSF noted that Israel is deliberately targeting journalists. Pointing out that Israel is committing the crime of genocide in Gaza, RSF emphasized that the attacks must end immediately.

In the statement, which called on Western countries to protect journalists, the Gaza administration included the following remarks:

'We invite Israel and countries such as the USA, the UK, Germany, and France, which are complicit in this crime, to take responsibility.'

ISRAEL'S ATTACKS CONTINUE

It was announced that 4 people were killed as a result of the IDF striking a house in Khan Yunis. In an attack on refugee tents in the city center, 6 people lost their lives. In an attack carried out near the Razi School in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, 5 people were killed and 13 were injured. 4 more Palestinians lost their lives in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood and 4 in the Al-Mighraqa area.

Israeli forces raided the Balata Refugee Camp in the West Bank. In Hebron, a house under construction and a water well were demolished with bulldozers. According to data from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), 30 Palestinians were detained in the latest raids. Since October 7, 937 Palestinians have lost their lives in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and 15,700 people have been detained.
