Israel issues travel warning to its citizens
The Israeli government has updated its travel advisory for various countries, calling on its citizens to avoid traveling abroad unless necessary.
The Israeli National Security Council issued a written statement on the matter. The statement, which noted that "acts of violence and antisemitism against Israelis and Jews have increased worldwide" due to Israel's attacks on Gaza, requested that Israelis increase their precautions while traveling.
Accordingly, the travel warning level has been raised to 2 for many countries in Western Europe, including the UK, France, and Germany, as well as some countries in South America, including Argentina and Brazil, and for Australia and Russia. Israeli citizens currently in these countries were advised to take additional precautions.
The statement called for a review of the necessity of traveling abroad and reiterated the warning to "postpone travel to countries with travel advisories, especially Arab countries, the Middle East, the North Caucasus, and countries neighboring Iran."
Furthermore, the statement advised citizens to "stay away from demonstrations and protests, remain vigilant, and pay attention to their surroundings," and requested that Israelis "avoid openly displaying Israeli and Jewish symbols."
