The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced that it had launched a comprehensive attack on Israel in the morning called "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood."

Following the attack and the ensuing clashes, Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on the Burj Palestine shopping mall located in the Gaza Strip.

As a result of the attack, the Burj Palestine center and surrounding buildings were destroyed.
