Israel launches airstrike on Yemen's capital Sanaa: 9 people killed

Israel has confirmed an airstrike it carried out on Yemen. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed that Houthi military camps were targeted in the attack, stating, "We promised to carry out more attacks, and today we dealt another painful blow to the Houthis in Yemen."

"The Israeli military carried out strikes in Sanaa and other regions of Yemen, targeting military camps where Houthi militants were located, including the Houthi propaganda apparatus," he said.

In a statement issued by the Israeli military, it was alleged that the strikes targeted military camps where Houthis gathered, a headquarters used by the Houthis for propaganda, and a fuel depot in the al-Jawf region.

The military claimed that the camps in question were used to plan and execute attacks against the Israeli military and the State of Israel, further alleging that the camps also housed operational and intelligence command centers.

"FORCED TO TURN BACK"

Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Houthi armed wing, stated in his remarks regarding the attack that they used surface-to-air missiles against the Israeli strike, noting that some Israeli warplanes were forced to turn back without firing their weapons.

Saree said, "Our air defense systems managed to launch a series of surface-to-air missiles against the Zionist aggression on our country. Some warplanes were forced to turn back before carrying out their attacks, and the majority of the attack was thwarted, thank God."

Yemeni media reported that Israel's strikes targeted the Houthi Ministry of Defense building, and that a medical facility and a government building were hit. Yemeni media also reported that there were numerous casualties in the attack.

In a statement regarding the attack issued by the Houthi Ministry of Health, it was stated: "9 people lost their lives and 118 people were injured in the Israeli strikes."
