Israel struck a building near Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 12 people.
Palestinian local sources reported that the Israeli military targeted a building near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, and that 12 people lost their lives in the attack.
Meanwhile, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in a post on his social media account that at least 24 cases of Hepatitis A have been detected in the Gaza Strip, where access to clean water is almost non-existent.
"CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS"
Ghebreyesus further stated the following in his announcement:
“Hepatitis A is usually mild but can sometimes cause serious illness. So far, 24 cases have been confirmed and no deaths have been reported. There are thousands of people with jaundice, likely associated with Hepatitis A. Inhumane living conditions—with almost no clean water, clean toilets, and the ability to keep the environment clean—will lead to further spread of Hepatitis A and show how dangerous the environment is in terms of disease spread. The capacity to diagnose diseases is extremely limited. There is no functioning laboratory. Treatment capacity is also limited. We continue our call for unhindered and safe access to medical aid and the protection of health.”
