Israeli Army has destroyed 5,000 tourist facilities in Gaza

It has been reported that approximately 5,000 tourist facilities have been destroyed as a result of the attacks carried out by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Tourism released a joint report on the occasion of World Tourism Day on September 27, detailing the situation.

The report stated, "Israel's aggression against the Gaza Strip has led to the complete or partial destruction of tourist facilities." It was noted that a total of 4,992 businesses were destroyed, including 3,450 businesses that made up 69.1 percent of tourist establishments in Gaza, as well as 921 businesses operating in the arts sector.

Furthermore, it was stated that 15,265 Palestinians lost their jobs in the tourism sector as a result of these attacks. Tourism activity in the occupied West Bank was also negatively affected; in the first half of 2024, there was a sharp decline of 84.2 percent in the number of hotel guests compared to the same period of the previous year.

At least 41,495 Palestinians have lost their lives in the attacks Israel has launched on Gaza since October 7; of these, 16,795 are children and 11,378 are women. Additionally, 96,006 people have been injured. While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, hospitals and educational institutions where the public sought shelter have also been targeted, and civilian infrastructure has been largely destroyed.
