Israeli army: 'Number of hostages held by Hamas is 239'
The Israeli army announced that there are 239 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
Israeli Army Spokesperson Daniel Hagari shared updated information regarding the number of hostages held by Hamas during a press conference.
FAMILIES OF HOSTAGES HAVE BEEN INFORMED
Noting that there are 239 people "being held" in Gaza and that their families have been informed, Hagari stated that there are also foreign workers among them. Hagari added that they are tracking Hamas's Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar and will continue to do so until he is found.
Touching upon the ground operation against Gaza, Hagari said, "We are gradually expanding the ground operation. We will do everything in our power to ensure the safety of our soldiers."

Hagari stated that the Israeli army killed dozens of armed elements, including tactical-level Hamas commanders, during operations in northern Gaza yesterday.
Israel had previously stated that more than 230 people, including soldiers and police, were held by Hamas near the Gaza Strip.
