Israeli attacks put Iran on alert: 'Supreme Leader Khamenei moved to a secure location'

Following the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) announcement that they killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in airstrikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday, September 27, a claim has emerged regarding Iran.

Two sources, who stated they were briefed by Tehran, told the Reuters news agency that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been 'transferred to a secure location within Iran under increased security measures.' The sources stated that Iran is in constant contact with Hezbollah and other 'proxy groups' to decide on the next steps following Israel's announcement regarding Nasrallah.

WHAT HAPPENED?

While there was speculation regarding the fate of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was reportedly targeted in airstrikes carried out by the Israeli military on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday, September 27, an official statement was made by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) today. In a post on the IDF's X (formerly Twitter) social media account, it was stated, "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world."

In its report on the matter, Reuters stated that the Israeli military officially announced that Nasrallah had been killed. Accordingly, one of the army spokespersons, Avichay Adraee, said in a statement today that Nasrallah was killed by Israeli forces. There has been no statement yet from Hezbollah regarding Nasrallah, who had led the organization for 32 years. A source close to Hezbollah said that contact with Nasrallah had been lost since last night.
