Israeli Defense Minister Katz bans former minister
It has been reported that Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has banned former Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon from entering military bases.
According to a report by Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Katz has decided to ban former minister Yaalon, who previously stated that Israel was conducting ethnic cleansing in Gaza, from entering military bases.
Yaalon was scheduled to give a lecture at the Glilot base north of Tel Aviv on April 1.
The Zionist organization "Im Tirtzu" and the father of Amit Buntzel, an Israeli soldier killed in the clashes in the Gaza Strip, wrote a letter to Katz requesting the cancellation of this conference.
Katz responded positively to the letter, announcing that Yaalon's participation in the conference had been canceled and that he was banned from entering military bases.
Recalling Yaalon's remarks regarding the Israeli army conducting ethnic cleansing in Gaza, Katz accused the former defense minister of being an "inciter."
HE HAD SAID ETHNIC CLEANSING WAS TAKING PLACE
In an interview with the local television channel Democratv in November 2024, Yaalon stated that Israel was conducting "ethnic cleansing" in the northern Gaza Strip.
Accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of dragging the country toward "ruin," Yaalon had stated, "We are currently being dragged into occupation, annexation, ethnic cleansing (look at the northern Gaza Strip), displacement, and Jewish settlement."
