Israeli Defense Minister to force detained activists to watch footage of Hamas attacks
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has ordered that activists detained after the Israeli military intercepted the 'Madleen' ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza be shown violent footage of Hamas's October 7 attacks.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a striking directive immediately after the Madleen aid ship, which was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza and had activists on board, was sent to the port of Ashdod following an intervention.
Katz instructed the Israeli military to show the detained activists footage of the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
In his statement, Katz claimed that climate activist Greta Thunberg and other "Hamas-supporting activists" should see these images to learn who Hamas really is.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The humanitarian aid ship named Madleen, which set sail from Sicily, was stopped in international waters by the Israeli navy while it was on its way to reach Gaza with well-known activists such as Greta Thunberg on board. The Israeli navy intervened on the night of June 8 against the British-flagged ship Madleen, which had departed from Sicily on June 1, and the ship was diverted to the port of Ashdod. Greta Thunberg, French MP Rima Hassan, and 12 activists on board were detained after their health status was checked. The purpose of the ship was to transport basic necessities such as baby formula, medicine, and water purification kits to Gaza.
