Israeli Foreign Minister Sa'ar: Rafah Border Crossing will likely open on Sunday

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar made a statement regarding the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza at the Mediterranean Dialogues Forum held in Naples, Italy.

Sa'ar said, "The Rafah Border Crossing will likely open on Sunday. We are making all the necessary preparations.

This is being coordinated with the European Union (EU) Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) force and, as far as I know, with the Palestinians as well. So, it will likely open this Sunday. I hope it opens, and everything possible is being done for this," he said.

IT WILL ONLY OPEN FOR CIVILIAN TRANSIT

In a statement made by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), an Israeli military unit, it was stated that preparations were underway for the opening of Rafah for civilian transit, that the date would be announced later, and it was emphasized that humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip would not enter through Rafah. The statement noted that humanitarian aid continues to enter through the Kerem Shalom Border Crossing on the Israeli border and other border crossings.
