Israeli media reports: Ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon approved

According to a report by Reuters, the Israeli Cabinet has approved the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon. It was reported that the ceasefire will take effect tomorrow.

The ceasefire proposal submitted by Netanyahu for the cabinet's approval was officially ratified after being approved by the cabinet.

The ceasefire, which was voted on in the Israeli security cabinet, was accepted by a vote of 10 to 1.

Lebanese officials announced that the ceasefire will take effect at 05:00 Turkey time.

WHAT THE CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT ENTAILS

Although the content of the ceasefire agreement, which will take effect between Israel and Lebanon at 04:00 local time (05:00 Turkey time), has not been officially released, statements made by US President Joe Biden on the matter and various claims in the press have provided some clues.

According to US President Biden's statement, the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon stipulates that the Israeli army will gradually withdraw from southern Lebanon within 60 days, while Hezbollah elements will be disarmed and move north of the Litani River.

Simultaneously, Lebanese people displaced due to Israeli attacks and Jewish settlers in northern Israel will be enabled to return to their homes.

Thus, the Lebanese army will be the only armed element on the Blue Line at the Lebanon-Israel border, excluding the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

An international coalition led by the US and France will provide support for the implementation of the requirements of the ceasefire agreement, but the US will not deploy troops in Lebanon.

According to claims reflected in the press before the announcement that the ceasefire would take effect, between 5,000 and 10,000 Lebanese soldiers will be deployed to the region between the Israel-Lebanon border and the Litani River, from which the Israeli army and Hezbollah have withdrawn.

In accordance with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701, any arms sales to Lebanon or arms production within Lebanon will be monitored by the Lebanese government to prevent the rearmament of the aforementioned groups in Lebanon.

On the other hand, according to another claim in the press, "The US has made a commitment, which is not in the text of the agreement, that grants Israel the right to strike again if it is determined that Hezbollah has violated the agreement."

STATEMENT FROM NETANYAHU

Following the Israeli Security Cabinet's approval of the ceasefire, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement. Netanyahu's statements are as follows:

"We will return all our citizens in the north to their homes. I am determined to do everything to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

We are determined to return the hostages in Gaza to their homes.

Bashar al-Assad is playing with fire. We have set Hezbollah back decades.

If Hezbollah breaks the agreement, we will strike them.

An agreement on a ceasefire has been reached. The ceasefire agreement means that we will now focus on the Iranian threat."
