Israeli parliament calls emergency 'missile' meeting: Concerns rising

Following a letter signed by several members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee requesting a discussion on the topics of "the failure of defense systems and the abandonment of the home front," the parliamentary committee has decided to hold an emergency meeting due to the insufficient number of "Arrow 3" type missiles used in air defense.

According to reports in the national press, the Israeli Knesset has decided to convene urgently due to the insufficient number of "Arrow 3" type missiles used in air defense. It is alleged that Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth made the decision to hold the meeting after more than one-third of the committee members signed a letter requesting a discussion on the topics of "the failure of defense systems and the abandonment of the home front."

Government's air defense budget policy under fire

The letter addressed allegations in the Israeli press regarding the Tel Aviv administration's determination not to increase budget expenditures for air defense systems last week. The letter, bearing the signatures of committee members, expressed concern that Israel "avoided expanding the production line of Arrow 3 missiles for months, despite the two major ballistic missile attacks carried out by Iran."

Committee members are demanding that Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich be summoned to the committee to answer questions regarding the alleged missile shortage. However, it has not yet been clarified when the meeting will take place.

Arrow 3 missiles

The Arrow 3 missiles, a joint US-Israeli production, are considered Israel's most advanced long-range defense system. These missiles are known to be designed to destroy ballistic missiles and similar munitions launched from Iran while they are outside the atmosphere.
