Israeli police seize equipment from TRT and foreign television crews

In Israel, following National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's directive to block live broadcasts by foreign television stations, police raided locations in Haifa where television crews, including those from TRT Arabi and the Dubai-based Al-Ghad channel, were staying. During these raids, equipment was confiscated and journalists were summoned for questioning.

According to a statement from the Israeli police, the raid was conducted on a hotel room containing cameras aimed at the Haifa port, following a tip-off as part of Ben-Gvir's "zero tolerance" policy. This operation was carried out with the aim of preventing broadcasts that endanger Israel's security.

BEN-GVIR'S STATEMENTS AND IRANIAN ATTACKS

National Security Minister Ben-Gvir had called on the Israeli internal security agency, Shin Bet, to take action against foreign television broadcasts that jeopardize state security. While the Israeli military enforced censorship rules during attacks from Iran, the live broadcasting of the attack moments by certain television channels had drawn criticism.

During an attack launched from Iran on June 15, a missile struck an oil refinery facility in Haifa, and these moments were broadcast live by the Qatar-based Al Jazeera. This incident caused widespread repercussions in the Israeli press and led to an increase in security measures.

The oil refinery in Haifa, located in northern Israel, was forced to suspend operations after being damaged as a result of the Iranian missile attack.
