A much-discussed editorial from Israel's oldest newspaper Haaretz: The sole person responsible is Netanyahu
Israel's oldest daily newspaper, 'Haaretz', has leveled harsh criticism at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the conflicts that began with Hamas.
Clashes continue in the region following the operations launched by Hamas's armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, against Israel.
According to the report in Birgün; Israel's oldest daily newspaper, 'Haaretz', has leveled harsh criticism at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an editorial it published.
"THE SOLE PERSON RESPONSIBLE IS NETANYAHU"
In the editorial titled "Netanyahu Bears Responsibility for This Israel-Gaza War", it was stated: "There is one person responsible for the disaster that has befallen Israel; Benjamin Netanyahu. The Prime Minister, who prides himself on his vast political experience and irreplaceable wisdom in security matters, has completely failed to identify the dangers he was consciously dragging Israel into while establishing a government of annexation and dispossession, appointing Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir to key positions, and adopting a foreign policy that openly ignores the existence and rights of Palestinians."
"HE TOOK CLEAR STEPS TOWARD ETHNIC CLEANSING"
The editorial, which noted that "Netanyahu previously marketed himself as a cautious leader who avoided wars and high casualties for Israel," stated the following:
"After his victory in the last elections, this caution was replaced by a 'fully right-wing government' policy, and he took clear steps to annex the West Bank and carry out ethnic cleansing in parts of Area C as defined in Oslo, including the Hebron Hills and the Jordan Valley."
The article emphasized the following:
"This also included the massive expansion of settlements and the strengthening of the Jewish presence on the Temple Mount near the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as boasting about an impending peace deal with the Saudis in which the Palestinians would receive nothing, and openly talking about a 'second Nakba' within the government coalition."
