It has become clear who Trump wants for CIA Director
Donald Trump, who won the elections held in the US on November 5, has announced that he will nominate former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe for the position of Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Trump, who won the presidential election held on November 5 and will take office on January 20, 2025, announced another key name for his cabinet to the public today.
TRUMP'S CIA NOMINEE
According to a written statement released by Trump's team, Trump stated that former Congressman Ratcliffe, who served as Director of National Intelligence from 2020 to 2021, will serve as CIA Director in his new cabinet.
Ratcliffe is known as a figure very close to Trump, having served as Director of National Intelligence—the umbrella organization for the country's intelligence agencies—during the final year of Trump's first presidential term.
Ratcliffe, who will be able to start his duties after receiving confirmation from the Senate, is known for his far-right views, much like the other names Trump has nominated for his cabinet so far, having come to Congress from Texas.
Ratcliffe, who served as acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas between 2007 and 2008, later served as mayor of the city of Heath in the same state until 2012.
Entering the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, Ratcliffe held this position until he was appointed Director of National Intelligence in 2020.
