Jihadist groups capture new areas in Hama, Syria

Jihadist groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which have been clashing with Assad's forces for 6 days, have captured several small settlements in the direction of Hama province.

The armed groups, which have recaptured most of Aleppo city center and the entirety of Idlib province, have also taken control of the settlements of Jilime, Al-Zakah, Barideej, Jubbayn, Tal Meleh, Qirqat, Mughayr, and Mabtan, as well as the villages of Tuwaynah, Huwayz, Sharia, and Bab al-Taqa in the Ghab Plain, all located in Assad-controlled Hama south of Idlib.

Today, the meeting centers of high-ranking Assad commanders were targeted around Hama with kamikaze drones. These include Abu Sayf and Al-Maatbah.

On November 30, the jihadist groups had taken control of the settlements of Taybat al-Imam, Kafr Zita, Kafr Nabudah, Halfaya, Qalaat al-Madiq, Lataminah, Suran, Kirnaz, Maardis, Hammaiyat, and Termala in northern Hama, where they gained the upper hand against regime forces.

The jihadist groups had also taken the district of Morek, one of the most important districts of Hama on the M5 highway, from Assad's forces.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Clashes between Assad's forces and jihadist groups began on November 27 in the western countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria.

Advancing rapidly from the western countryside of Aleppo toward the center on November 27-28, the jihadist groups had captured most of the city center by November 30.

On November 30, the jihadist groups took Khan Shaykhun, establishing control over the entirety of Idlib.
