Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden appears in court on 9 separate charges

US President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden appeared in court at the Los Angeles District Court regarding 9 separate tax charges against him.

The hearing came just one month after Hunter Biden was charged in the Central District of California with failing to pay his taxes.

The indictment includes 9 charges, three of which are felonies and six of which are misdemeanors, including failure to file tax returns, failure to pay taxes, tax evasion, and filing false tax returns.

When US District Court Judge Mark Scarsi asked for his plea to all the charges brought against him, Hunter Biden replied, "Not guilty."

In a 56-page indictment filed in federal court last month, federal prosecutors alleged that Hunter Biden, who moved to Los Angeles in 2018, failed to pay at least 1.4 million dollars in federal taxes between 2016 and 2019.

Prosecutors alleged that Biden spent this money between October 2016 and 2020 on "drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, and other items of a personal nature."

The hearing was adjourned until June.

CHARGED WITH CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS

Following his refusal to comply with subpoenas to testify before Congress, a recommendation was made yesterday by the House Judiciary Committee to charge Hunter Biden with "contempt of Congress."

The relevant committees of the House of Representatives had summoned Hunter Biden to testify as part of the impeachment inquiry into US President Joe Biden, but Biden stated he would only accept on the condition that it be "public." Hunter Biden, who was initially requested to testify in a closed session, did not appear to give testimony.

In the House of Representatives' multi-faceted impeachment inquiry into the US President, allegations are being investigated regarding whether Biden's family members improperly benefited from foreign business deals or used this policy for gain, as well as claims that the Department of Justice improperly slowed down the tax crimes investigation.
