Joint military exercise by Greece and India in the Aegean Sea
Greece and India have strengthened their military cooperation with an exercise conducted in the Aegean Sea.
Greece conducted a comprehensive military exercise in the Aegean Sea together with India. The exercise, which took place on September 17-18, 2025, in the Myrtoan Sea and the central Aegean, involved naval and air assets.
The Hellenic Navy participated with the frigate "Themistoklis," the submarine "Pipinos," and a SAT (Underwater Demolition Command) team, while the Indian Navy participated with the frigate "INS Trikand."
During the exercise, various scenarios were practiced, including surface warfare, anti-air warfare, and anti-submarine warfare. Additionally, four crew members from the "INS Trikand" boarded the "Themistoklis" frigate, aiming to enhance cooperation and interoperability between the ships. Following the exercise, the Hellenic Fleet Command continued its planned operational training.
The Hellenic National Defence General Staff stated that the exercise was completed successfully and that the cooperation between the two countries' navies was at an excellent level. This exercise aimed to improve coordination and the ability of the Greek and Indian military forces to operate together.
