Journalist wearing 'FC Palestine' t-shirt faces security intervention at Abu Dhabi Airport
Security forces intervened against journalist Leyla Hamed at Zayed Airport for wearing an 'FC Palestine' t-shirt. Hamed was asked to remove the t-shirt or cover the text on it.
Security forces at Zayed Airport in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), obstructed journalist Leyla Hamed for wearing an 'FC Palestine' t-shirt.
Security personnel told the journalist that she had to remove the t-shirt or cover the 'FC Palestine' text on it.
Hamed shared the situation in a video she posted on social media. In the video released by Leyla Hamed, security forces approach the journalist and tell her that she must remove the t-shirt.
When Hamed asked the officer why they were bothered by Palestine, the officer replied, "The issue is not about Palestine, it is about the logo on the t-shirt. It is forbidden to wear this at the airport; my boss called me and you need to take the t-shirt off."
In a statement regarding the incident, Hamed said, "I am still wearing the t-shirt, and I am proud to wear this t-shirt."
