A journey of hope from the world to Gaza: A massive fleet of 20 ships sets sail
Hundreds of activists from 44 countries, including Greta Thunberg and numerous politicians, have mobilized to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The "Global Sumud Fleet" has gone down in history as the largest civilian initiative ever organized against the Israeli blockade.
Activists from all over the world have mobilized against the severe humanitarian crisis and famine that have been ongoing in Gaza for months. The "Global Sumud Fleet," formed by the merger of the Freedom Flotilla, the Global Gaza Movement, the Sumud Convoy, and the Malaysian Sumud Nusantara initiatives, has set sail from various ports in Spain.
20 SHIPS, 44 COUNTRIES, HUNDREDS OF ACTIVISTS
The fleet, consisting of approximately 20 ships, is carrying food, medicine, and basic necessities. Over 300 activists from 44 countries have joined this historic journey. Participants include Portuguese politician Mariana Mortagua and the world-renowned Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
The organizers emphasized that the aid is not only a humanitarian initiative but also a global protest message. In a statement, they said, "Every ship is a cry of hope for Gaza. This fleet shows the world that the will of free peoples against injustice is stronger than genocide."
"THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE CANNOT BE BESIEGED"
Committee Chairman Zaher Birawi summarized the purpose of the fleet with these words:
"The Sumud Fleet sends a clear message to the world: The will of the people cannot be besieged, and the voice of freedom will surely find its way."
