Kabosu, the internet-famous dog and one of the most recognizable icons of the crypto world, who served as the face of many digital currencies such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, has passed away.

ACTIVITY IN DOGECOIN

Following the news of Kabosu's death, there was movement in Dogecoin prices.

The 17-year-old Kabosu's owner, Atsuko Sato, announced on her blog that the beloved dog passed away on the morning of May 24. Kabosu had been receiving treatment for leukemia since 2022. Sato stated that she would hold a farewell ceremony for Kabosu on Sunday, May 26, at a park in Narita, Japan.


"SHE PASSED AWAY WITHOUT PAIN"

In a statement on social media, Atsuko Sato said: "She passed away peacefully without pain, as if she were falling asleep while feeling the warmth of my hands. Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu for all these years. I am certain that Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world. That makes me the happiest owner in the world. I offer my deepest gratitude to everyone who sent us love."

Kabosu, a female Shiba Inu, became an internet star in 2010 after social media users began sharing a photo of her posing with a puzzled expression and crossed paws. By 2013, the Dogecoin digital currency was launched, using Kabosu's image as its official logo.
